If you’re anything like me, you probably spent yesterday which somehow already feels like last year (yes, yesss, New Year joke intended) filling up a really cute planner with ambitious goals and unrealistic optimism. That same adrenaline is why this post exists. Lol.
I even went the extra mile and planned out every single day in January. One of those goals? Post my guitar videos on TikTok every day. The cruel irony? I’m writing this because I already doomscrolled through my posting window on day one. On the very app I swore I’d use intentionally this year. It’s 10pm. I have too many hours of screen time. We’re off to a great start 🙂
We’re all going to hit the gym. Use our phones less. Wake up early. Walk 10k steps a day.
And by February? That planner is collecting dust. The screen time is back up. The gym membership is a recurring donation to a building that I’ll never enter.
But here’s what I keep coming back to.

A few weeks ago, I was at karaoke with my friends. I don’t even remember what we sang…something off-key and probably way too loud but I remember laughing until my stomach hurt. I remember feeling like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. My phone was out of sight. No algorithm feeding me someone else’s life. Just us, being ridiculous, making a memory I’ll actually keep.
That’s the stuff. That’s the stuff I want more of.
Whatever your resolution is this year, I hope it isn’t empty. I hope it asks something of you. I hope it forces you to stand taller, speak when it’s easier to stay quiet, and walk into rooms without apologizing for taking up space. Try something unfamiliar. Be bad at it but stay anyway.
Dance in the Walmart aisle when Bruno Mars comes on. I have. People stared. I regret nothing.

Because when December 31st rolls around again, those are the moments you’ll remember. Who you laughed with. Who saw you. Who you showed up as.
New year. Same me. Just trying to look up from my phone long enough to live a life worth posting about and then maybe not posting it at all.
(But also I’m still going to try to post my guitar every day. Check back in February to see how that’s going. Spoiler: probably badly, or not who knows 🙂
As promised, this post’s playlist 🙂
